US presidential candidates faced off in a final debate in Hamsted, New York. As expected the US economy dominated much of the debate which turned quite combative at times. Republican John McCain launched sharp attacks on his opponent Barack Obama's tax scheme, among other policy proprosals. McCain is under pressure to reverse his slide in opinion polls. Latest surveys show his rival Obama commanding double digit leads.
