After one US National Guard member died and another was critically injured in a shooting in Washington, D.C., an Afghan suspect is in custody. President Donald Trump has condemned the shooting as an act of terror.

A gunman opened fire on two newly sworn-in National Guard soldiers near the White House on Wednesday. Authorities identified the suspect as a 29-year-old Afghan national who served with US forces in Afghanistan and drove cross-country before the attack. The FBI is investigating possible terrorism links. President Trump responded by suspending immigration requests for Afghan nationals.
