Using Butterbur to Fight Migraines

Studies have show that butterbur, a traditional medicinal plant, can be effective in reducing the occurrence and severity of migraines. Butterbur extract is made from the plant's roots and can be taken in the form of capsules.

If butterbur doesn't help, migraine suffers can also try ginkgo, a tree whose leaves contain substances that improve the blood supply to the brain. Rubbing peppermint oil onto the forehead or temples is also an effective way of alleviating tension headaches.
