Tens of thousands of young Catholics from around the world are in Rome for a week of pilgrimage during the Vatican's Jubilee of Youth. The celebration takes place every 25 years, but for the first time the Vatican is attempting to harness the power of social media — by hosting events for the new generation of what they call "Digital Missionaries".

Pope Leo held the first-ever Vatican mass for Catholic influencers, urging them to spread the faith online while warning about overreliance on technology and AI. The event is part of the Youth Jubilee, drawing thousands of young digital missionaries to Rome. With global church attendance declining, the Church sees social media as a vital tool for evangelization.
