Venezuela says it rejects 'presence of foreign troops'

US strikes rocked Venezuela's capital early Saturday after months of threats by Donald Trump against Nicolas Maduro. Trump later confirmed the United States had carried out the strikes and captured the Venezuelan leader.

The US claim that President Nicolas Maduro was ousted has not been independently verified, though Venezuela's vice president said authorities were unable to locate the head of state.

The escalation follows weeks of US military action in the region and years of accusations and threats between Washington and Caracas.
