The daughter of Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on her mother's behalf in Oslo, Norway. Machado, who lives in hiding in Venezuela, is set to make an address on Thursday.

Maria Corina Machado, barred from Venezuela's 2024 presidential race, was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize for her fight for democracy.

Her daughter Ana Corina Sosa accepted the award in Oslo, as the Nobel Committee urged President Nicolas Maduro to respect election results and step down.

In a speech, Sosa condemned state violence and crimes against humanity, pledging Venezuela will be free.
