Near St. Mark's Square in Venice, a dolphin dubbed Mimmo keeps resurfacing. Experts warn that staying in the lagoon could be fatal for him.

A dolphin that the locals have named Mimmo has been delighting Venice since June, even appearing near St. Mark's Square. Tourists and locals in Italy adore him, but heavy boat traffic poses risks.

Animal activists have launched a "Save the Dolphin" petition, urging his removal, while experts have warned against forcing him out. Mimmo is healthy and monitored closely, yet his unusual trust in ships is drawing crowds — and concern for his safety.
