# The United States is on the brink of writing a new chapter in nuclear arms history with Russia. A group of Senate Republicans has joined the Democratic majority in voting to end debate on ratifying the START Treaty - which would slash nuclear stockpiles by about 30 percent. A final vote is expected on Wednesday.
