In the first of our series on the hotels the soccer players of EURO 2008, the European soccer championship, will be staying at is the "Il Giardino" in Ticino, Switzerland. That's where the German national team - the favourites to take it all - will be quartered. The hotel has been called the best holiday hotel of the past 10 years. It is at Lake Maggiore. Hotels for Soccer Stars - Episode 2 - euromaxx 13.05.2008

All this week we're looking at some of the hotels that the football stars will be staying in during Euro 2008. UEFA itself has a list of recommendations that it sends out to all the national teams of the participating countries, but Italy, rather surprisingly, chose a seemingly little known hotel near Vienna. They want to be very close to the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna where the final willl take place. Obviously they're very confident that they will make it all the way!

Hotels for Soccer Stars (5) - Villa Sassa Hotel in Locarno for the Swedish national soccer team - euromaxx 16.05.2008

The Swedish national soccer team for the European championship is setting up camp at the Villa Sassa Hotel in Locarno. Nestled in the Swiss Alps, the four-star Hotel has 120 rooms offering a spectacular view over Lake Lugano. Villa Sassa is flooded with light, style and elegance and offers a wide range of facilities including outside and inside pools, a bio sauna, and turkish baths, whilst the restaurant serves up seasonal Mediterranean cuisine on the terrace. Nicholas Labhart, the resident manager took time out to show us round. It will be his job to tend to the team's needs - a tough call for anyone once the competition gets into full swing.

Hotels for Soccer Stars: Hotel Jagdhof Fuschlsee for the Greeks - euromaxx 17.05.2008 (mit Anmod)

In our continuing series on the fancy digs that some of the European national soccer teams will be staying at during the EURO 2008, we go to the Jagdhof near Salzburg, Austria. Werner Frei is the security chief there and he'll tell us how he'll be protecting the Greek national team (and defending European champion) who will be staying there. The Hotel Jagdhof Fuschlsee is a 17th-century country house that was fully renovated in 2002. It has 143 guest rooms, an indoor heated pool and a 9-hole golf course. It's just above Lake Fuschl.
