1986 was the year a legend was born: the BMW M3, one of the best-performing motorsport models ever. It could go anywhere - dirt road or race track. Under the hood was an optimized four-cylinder engine that had already scored successes for the BMW 1800ti in the 1960s.

Gerald Bonengel has a personal attachment to the early M3s. He owns a 1987 M3 in anthracite finish. But he likes his cars faster, sleeker and more exclusive. He customized his car to be a Cecotto Replica DTM car in homage to Venezuelan race driver Johnny Cecotto, who drove an M3 in the World Touring Car Championship.
