Before World War Two around 75 per cent of the world’s musical instruments came from the Vogtland region. It still supplies instruments to top orchestras. Visitors can see how they are made and vist the instrument museum in Markneukirchen. Plauen is famous for its lace and the area is best explored on a panoramic route that offers breathtaking views of the area’s natural beauty and such landmarks as the world’s largest brick-built bridge.
