Volkswagen Refutes Name Change

Europe’s largest car maker said on Tuesday it would not consider changing its name. The Volkswagen brand is rooted in tradition, the German company’s press office said from its headquarters in Wolfsburg. The mass-circulation tabloid Bild had reported earlier in the week that marketing experts at the company were deliberating over changing the name of the mother company Volkswagen, which in addition to the VW line produces the Audi brand, to Auto Union.
