In July, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier paid a visit to the Caucasus on a mission to promote peace. He went to Russia, Georgia, and Abkhazia – Georgia’s OTHER separatist province. Germany has a special interest in the region and plays the role of "honest broker" there. We discuss why.
