Good With Food

DW staff (win)August 20, 2008

For decades, German women have stayed away from food to attract men. According to a new survey, doing exactly the opposite might be a better idea.

The way to a German man's heart still seems to lead straight through his stomach, at least if one is to trust a poll by the Apotheken Umschau magazine, which is a highly popular giveaway at German pharmacies.

Some 45.6 percent of men surveyed said that they wanted their partner first and foremost to be able to cook well, with 43.3 percent hoping for a woman, who's "efficient around the house." Okay, so 44.1 percent also said that they want their loved ones to look good and tidy. But there's no word on whether women should be smart as well.

The female participants of the survey also seem to have some slightly outdated requirements for their perfect husband. Some 47.8 percent really like it when their men can look after them and protect them. More than a third of women also wants a partner, who can support them well financially.
