When a Stroke Strikes - Know the Warning Signs

Most strokes are caused by a sudden blockage of the blood supply to the brain. That also prevents oxygen from reaching the brain, causing nerve cells to die off at a rate of about 30,000 every second. The effects of a stroke depend on which part of the brain is affected - and how quickly the patient gets medical help.
