The US automaker Chrysler is expected to file for bankruptcy protection today. But it could be a quick bankruptcy. The White House is pushing for Chrysler and the Italian carmaker Fiat to agree to an alliance that would give Fiat a 20 percent stake in the company. That would allow Chrylser to reorganize and stay in business.
