WHO chief warns of Ebola epidemic

The head of the World Health Organization said that the fast-moving Ebola outbreak in Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda was outpacing response efforts, giving the latest number of suspected deaths as 220.

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is worsening, with WHOchief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warning of more than 220 suspected deaths.

In Mongbwalu, violence against medical staff has forced hospitals to evacuate, hampering efforts to contain the virus. With no vaccine for the current strain and rising community mistrust, health workers say the epidemic is spreading faster than they can respond.
