This time, Afrimaxx shows everyone that the African continent was not built on sand.

Meet creative minds who see sand as a building material: from sandcastles and beachcombers to rammed earth.

Using nothing but sand, Lanele Xaba creates dreamlike structures and fantastical figures on Cape Town's beaches. Let's get to know the man who built a new life from nothing.

In the heart of Nairobi, an artist is turning earth into something meaningful. Check out how Elizabeth Natul Nenge uses ceramic art, to teach children life skills in Kenya.

The island of Likoma in Malawi is known for its beaches. However, waste disposal is a local problem. How fortunate that there are “beachcombers” who know how to turn waste into great design objects.

Instead of sand, this Senegalese architect builds with rammed earth. Fatiya Diene Mazza, proves that you don't have to choose between heritage and innovation.
Themenfeld: Innovation
