Wildfires are flaring across Europe during another intense heatwave. They are raising questions about how even regions once considered too wet or too cool for major wildfire risk are becoming more vulnerable.

What does Europe's warming trend mean in terms of hightened risk of wildfires, and is Europe doing all it should to address the problem?

DW  put these and other questions to Lindon Pronto, a senior fire management expert and co-founder of the Fire Climate Resilience Initiative.

"We have seen the writing on the wall, and we still are unfazed by it. We still accept a loss of life of first responders. That's where I feel like we've become apathetic to the reality that we're now facing," Pronto tells DW.
