The year's first baby seals are starting to appear on Poland's beaches. Many are doomed to die because they have no mother. Blue Patrol, a WWF initiative with 200 volunteers, helps conserve the gray seal population in the Baltic Sea.

"Get away from it," Jan Wilkanowski yells to people on a beach in northern Poland standing near a baby seal. Wilkanowski, one of 200 volunteers of the Blue Patrol, puts the seal in a basket and brings it back to a nearby station, where it receives treatment before returning to the Baltic Sea.
