Yemeni Terror Suspects Face Extradition to U.S.

November 14, 2003

The German justice and foreign ministries will soon decide whether Yemeni citizens Sheik Mohammed Ali Hassan el Moajed and his secretary Mohammed Mohsen Jahja Sajed may be extradited to the United States, a spokeswoman said Friday. Petitions to the German parliament and the European Court of Human Rights from the men's lawyers would not delay the extradition, she said. Authorization from the ministries is the last step in deporting the two men, who were arrested in January at Frankfurt Airport. They are wanted in the United States for allegedly providing money and recruiting members for the terror groups al Qaeda and Hamas.
