Young Researchers: Romanian Medical Researcher and Chemist Ioana Tofolean

Romanian medical student Ioana Tofolean is one of the young researchers specially invited to the 2014 Lindau Meeting of Nobel Laureates. At Bucharest’s Carol Davila University, the 24-year-old is current investigating whether vitamins can help contain and perhaps cure leukemia.

Romania doesn’t invest much money in research and health care, but Tofolean hopes one day to win a Nobel Prize so that she can fund her own projects. That would make her Romania’s first-ever Nobel Prize winner...
