Zambia - Copper in demand

Africa's biggest copper mining region is located in north-west Zambia. Both emerging and industrialized nations need the raw material, which is principally used in the construction and electronics industries, to keep economic growth steady. As more and more mines open up in Zambia, people are flocking to the region to work in them.

But there are few jobs to go round, and the area is deficient in roads, housing and access to clean water.
