Depuis son ouverture en 1953 dans un quartier tranquille de Berlin-ouest jusqu'à la Réunification des deux Allemagne, plus d'un million 300 000 personnes ont franchi les portes du camp de transit de Marienfelde. Aujourd'hui, le lieu abrite un centre de documentation, dans les baraques qui servaient autrefois d'hébergement pour les nouveaux arrivants.
