由于严重的金融危机,数万名希腊人由于无法承担高赋税而被迫放弃私家车。根据该国交通部的统计,仅在今年12月,就有7万名机动车车主注销了自己的汽车,这一数额比去年同期增加了15%。造成这一现象的主要原因是,许多人已经无法承担机动车税收的经济负担。根据工会组织的估算,为了执行严格的节约政策,希腊人收入水平从2009年以来已经下滑了三成。此外,交通部还表示,截至到本周五,已经按规定缴纳机动车税的车主仅有六成。
